TITLE:   Official Description Change:  Unsigned Iowa 942, Monroe County

 

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Unsigned Iowa 942 begins on the Monroe‑Appanoose County line on the north corporation line of the City of Moravia and proceeds northerly approximately four and one‑half miles to Iowa 5, beginning again at a junction with Iowa 5 approximately two and one‑half miles south of the City of Albia and proceeds northwesterly and northeasterly to another junction with Iowa 5 approximately one and one‑half miles south of the City of Albia.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑942‑0(2)‑‑2M‑68, between Monroe County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred unsigned Iowa 942 from the Monroe‑Appanoose County line near the S ¼ Corner Section 33‑T71N‑R17W northerly to Iowa 5 near the center Section 9‑T71N-­R17W and from Iowa 5 approximately 1500 feet northeast of the S ¼ Corner Section 4‑T71N-R17W northwesterly and northeasterly to Iowa 5 in the SE ¼ Section 33‑T72N‑R17W to county jurisdiction on November 24, 1980.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of unsigned Iowa 942 in Monroe County from the primary road system.

 

Remove unsigned Iowa 942 in Monroe County as follows:

 

Beginning at the Monroe‑Appanoose County line at a point near S ¼ Corner of Section 33‑T71N‑R17W, Monroe County (N ¼ Corner of Section 4‑T70N‑R17W, Appanoose County); thence north along the center Section line through Sections 33, 28, 21, 16 and 9­T71N‑R17W to a point near the center said Section 9 connecting with Iowa 5.

 

Beginning again on the Iowa 5 at a point approximately 1500 feet northeast of S ¼ Corner Section 4‑T71N-­R17W; thence northwesterly through Section 4‑T71N‑R17W; thence northwesterly and northeasterly through Section 4‑T71N‑R17W and Section 33‑T72N‑R17W to a point in the NE ¼ Section 33‑T72N‑R17W (junction Iowa 5).

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records Unsigned Iowa 942 in Monroe County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of Unsigned Iowa 942 in Monroe County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

 

Locate Unsigned Iowa 942 in Monroe County as follows:

 

Beginning at the Monroe‑Appanoose County line at a point near SW Corner of Section 33‑T71N‑R17W, Monroe County (N ¼ Corner of Section 4‑T70N‑R17W, Appanoose County); thence north along the center Section line through Sections 33, 28, 21, 16 and 9‑T71N‑R17W to a point near the center said Section 9 connecting with Iowa 5.

 

Beginning again on Iowa 5 at a point approximately 1500 feet northeast of S ¼ Corner Section 4‑T71N‑R17W; thence northwesterly through Section 4‑T71N‑R17W; thence northwesterly and northeasterly through Section 4‑T71N‑R17W and Section 33‑T72N‑R17W to a point in the NE ¼ Section 33-T72N-­R17W (junction Iowa 5).

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Beginning at the Monroe‑Appanoose County line at a point near S ¼ Corner of Section 33‑T71N‑R17W, Monroe County (N ¼ Corner of Section 4‑T70N‑R17W, Appanoose County); thence north along the ¼ section line through Sections 33, 28, 21, 16, and 9‑T71N‑R17W to a point near the center of Section 9 connecting with new Iowa 5.

 

Beginning again on new Iowa 5 at a point approximately 1500 feet northeast of N ¼ Corner Section 9‑T71N‑R17W; thence northwesterly through Section 4‑T71N‑R17W; thence northwesterly and northeasterly to a point 1700 feet NE of N ¼ Corner Section 4‑T71N‑R17W on new Iowa 5 in Section 33‑T72N‑R17W.

 

NOW, THEREFORE:  Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Unsigned Iowa 942 in Monroe, County.

 

NOTE:  To become effective upon adoption of this resolution.
